A little bit about where this all started!

I was born and raised in New Haven, CT.  What was unique about being from that City was Yale University. It is located there.  I started honking (as it used to be called) the sax in my early teens.  Every Saturday night there would be a load of mixers at Yale and there was a constant flow of  talent brought in to perform at these functions.  Sometimes Little Anthony, The Penguins, Dell-Vikings but the real favorite was the Five Satins, themselves a New Haven Group.  Their record, “In The Still Of The Night” was voted the most popular Doo Wop oldie on New York City’s WCBS – FM every year until the station changed formats. My sister went to school with a guy who was playing, booking, and producing records in New Haven. His name was Jerry Greenberg and he took an interest in my playing. He partnered with Sam Goldman who was a famous or infamous record producer depending on who you were talking with. Jerry did a tremendous amount of Ivy League booking of then major groups. Soon after, I was paired with the Satins as their horn player very early on with my band “The Sonics”. As a natural progression, I developed a rep as a horn player who could reproduce the sound of the orignal sax work on any record. I started playing with multiple bands on the mixer circuit moving round robin to back up visiting national acts/performers on any given night. I played with the Satins on and off for 20 years. Jerry later became President of Atlantic Records and signed a number of renowned multi-million selling acts to the label.

Some years later I would be with a group "Tommy & the Riveria's" that was the opening band on an infamous night in New Haven.  It was December 9, 1967 and we opened for a relatively new act know as “The Doors”.  It was the night Jim Morrision got busted and long before he every got to trouble in Miami.  We were kind of cause and effect for what happen and if we meet someday I will "whisper" to you the whole story. Over the years I have professionally played all styles of music and have a performance list of  over 1000 songs.

Recently, I worked with Nokie Edward, Lead Guitar Player of the most famous instrumental group in history, The Ventures.  It was a thrill blowing Hawaii 50 with him.  He brought George Terry with him on the show.  Starting off as a studio musician in the late 1960's, George Terry started a band with Eric Clapton after recording the 461 Ocean Blvd. album in 1973. He was the writer of  “Lay Down Sally” so I guess I need to say nothing more about the talent of that gentleman.  I work with DooWop groups that are legends to a being a hired gun for best of bands on the Treasure Coast when they need a honker.

I hope you get to give a listen to my playing horn in person at some point.  It is a pure joy to me and I know if you like music, you'll enjoy what I'll be laying down.

Till then…………………………………….
